🟠🟠 Street Division Laborer 🟠🟠
The Village of North Aurora located in Kane County and situated along I-88 is seeking candidates to fill multiple full-time, non-exempt positions of Street Division Laborer in the Public Works Department.
This position performs a variety of tasks related to the repair, replacement and maintenance of the Village’s streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure, street lights and signs. Position is also responsible for assisting the Village in providing various village services including seasonal leaf pickup, tree maintenance and trimming, snow plowing and ice control, assisting with facilitating logistics for special events, maintaining Village buildings, property and rights-of way and providing other services to the community as needed. Employees in this position are part of an on-call rotation required to respond to emergencies after hours if necessary.
This position is responsible for operating various vehicles and equipment including five-yard dump trucks, six-wheel dump trucks, backhoes, endloaders, skidsters and other types of vehicles and equipment. Candidates must possess a Class B-CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements, or have the ability to obtain one within six (6) months. Candidates must have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, develop positive working relationships with contractors, residents and village staff and be able to work well in a team environment. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent with one to three years of related work experience preferred.
The Fiscal Year 23-24 hourly rate for this position is $25.93 to $36.03 per hour and is eligible for overtime, on-call pay and other compensations. The Village provides an excellent benefit package including participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), health insurance, vacation leave, holidays, sick leave and other benefits. Position is part of the bargaining unit represented by Local 150. Successful candidates must reside within a twenty-five (25) mile radius of the Village. The Village of North Aurora, Illinois located in Kane County is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Custodian in the Public Works Department.
The Village is seeking a Custodian who will be responsible for the daily cleaning and routine maintenance of Village facilities including the Village Hall and separate police station for the Police Department. Position will clean and maintain restrooms, floors, hallways, offices, conference rooms and common areas and perform other custodial work throughout the buildings. Position will also perform minor repairs and other routine maintenance activities, coordinate repairs with contractors and order janitorial supplies. Responds to issues and performs other related work as needed.
Qualified candidates must be able to perform the requirements of the job and be familiar with practices and techniques in building cleaning and maintenance. The periodic use of computers and related software is required. Candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Illinois driver’s license, and be able to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
The hourly rate for this position is between $21.35 to $30.38 per hour, or $44,400 to $63,195 on an annualized basis and is based on a ten (10) step system. Starting hourly rate and step is dependent on qualifications. The Village offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance, life insurance, vacation leave, holiday leave, sick leave, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). There is no residency requirement for the position. The position is anticipated to normally work Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., with some flexibility available, and is eligible for occasional overtime.
