Police Department

The North Aurora Police Department provides policing services to 16,000 plus residents within our 10-square mile community. The department utilizes the latest in technology and training methods to stay at the forefront of the law enforcement community. The department is proactive, working aggressively and consistently to identify and resolve problems and other issues to improve the quality of life within our community.

Our Mission

It is the mission of the North Aurora Police Department to work in partnership with the citizens of North Aurora toward providing a safe environment and enhancing the quality of life consistent with the values of the community. We are committed to creating an atmosphere of safety and security in North Aurora while maintaining the highest standards of integrity, dignity, fairness and professionalism.

Lobby Hours

The North Aurora Police Department is located at 200 South Lincolnway, North Aurora, Illinois 60542. The phone number for non-emergency police service and administrative business is (630) 897-8705.  The North Aurora Police Department lobby is generally open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday, except Holidays.  When the lobby is closed there is an intercom available that will directly connect you to our dispatch center for assistance.

Patrol

The Patrol Division responds to calls for service, enforces traffic regulations, and patrols the village seeking out criminal and suspicious activity. As the largest and most visible division of the Police Department, the Patrol Division provides the first response to emergency and non-emergency incidents as well as conducts preliminary investigations. The Patrol Division maintains order, aids individuals, and identifies criminal offenders.  Patrol Division personnel wear uniforms and drive marked patrol vehicles.

The Patrol Division performs a full range of police duties necessary to enforce the laws, identify problems, and resolve conflicts. The duties range from opening a vehicle with the keys locked inside to restraining and apprehending violent offenders. In addition to assisting the North Aurora Fire Department with fires, ambulance calls, and alarms, patrol officers also assist various agencies who seek assistance in and around the village.

The Patrol Division is responsible for documenting all activity during a shift and for completing criminal case reports when required. Patrol Officers are required to testify in court for criminal cases and traffic court when called upon.

The Patrol Division consists of 17 Officers and 5 Sergeants which provide 24 hour street coverage, divided between four teams on two shifts.
