Village of North Aurora Welcomes New Officer

Village of North Aurora Welcomes New Officer

We’d like to introduce you to our newest officer, Fernando Ramirez, who was sworn in this week. Mayor Mark Gaffino administered the oath of office to Ramirez as his family and new co-workers looked on.
Officer Ramirez is a resident of North Aurora and has lived in the Aurora & North Aurora area for most of his life. He is a graduate of West Aurora High School, holds an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Waubonsee Community College, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Aurora University. He was previously employed at Woodmans Market where he worked in Loss Prevention.
Ramirez said, “I am honored and grateful for this opportunity to give back and serve the community. This has been a lifelong goal of mine and I look forward to making a positive impact on this great community.”
Officer Ramirez reports to the police academy on Sunday and will spend the next fourteen weeks learning the basics of being a police officer. Following that, he will enter our field training program where he’ll work alongside an experienced officer for twelve weeks and learn to apply his academy knowledge out in the field.
Please join us in welcoming Officer Ramirez to our community!
