NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion on Ash Trees – 5-yr Plan, future removal and planting

Public Works Superintendent Mike Glock had presented a 5-year plan for treatment, removal and planting of trees in the Village. Due to the large amount of trees that were lost, the Village is in need of more funds than what was budgeted this year. Presently the Village has 5000 parkway trees and of those, 40% are ash trees. Glock said that the replacement trees will be of various types (Maples, Oaks, Lindens) and will be tolerant to all conditions.

Trustee Faber said that the trees are not going to get cheaper and the demand is increasing. Faber said that since the Village is sitting on a budget that is in the black by $300,000, the sooner the Village gets the tree situation resolved, the better off it will be. Finance Director Bill Hannah said that that is the thought process. The amount budgeted this year was $50,000 to remove and replace trees.

Glock noted that the Village needs to hire a new firm to complete the tree project since the company the Village was using went under. A quarter of the Village has been completed (8 phases).

The five-year plan for removal and replacement would be $194,000.

Hannah said that Glock could start working on the plan and Staff will decide on the dollar amount for the amendment. The Committee was in agreement.

ADJOURNMENT
Motion to adjourn made by Trustee Guethle and seconded by Trustee Faber. All in favor. Motion approved.

Respectfully submitted,

Lori J. Murray
Village Clerk
