JULY 6, 2015
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Berman called the meeting to order.
ROLL CALL
In attendance: Mayor Dale Berman, Trustees Laura Curtis, Mark Carroll, Mark Gaffino, Mark Guethle and Village Clerk Lori Murray. Not in attendance: Trustees Mike Lowery and Chris Faber.
Staff in attendance: Village Administrator Steve Bosco, Finance Director Bill Hannah, Community & Economic Development Director Mike Toth, Police Chief Dave Summer, Public Works Superintendent Mike Glock, Water Superintendent Paul Young, Attorney G. Tyler Stevenson (Drendel & Jansons) and Labor Attorney Richard Kelly.

DISCUSSION
1. Discussion of Code Amendments Pertaining to Dead Trees
This item was discussed at the Development Committee Level and the committee was in favor of holding a property owner responsible for removing dead trees from their property. Trustee Carroll asked if there is a legal issue with requiring this of property owners. Steve Bosco said he could discuss this with Attorney Drendel. If there is case law, the item could be brought forward for approval at another meeting. If there is no case law, can bring the issue back to the Development Committee for further discussion.
2. Discussion of Code Amendments Pertaining to Keeping Chickens in Residential
Areas in the Village of North Aurora
Trustee Curtis was against allowing chickens in the Village. Curtis said, “it is reasonable for people moving into a suburban community, to expect not to be living next to farm animals.” A couple of residents addressed the board at the May 4th Village Board Meeting requesting the Village allow chickens.
Mayor Berman noted that there did not appear to be interest in allowing chickens in the Village at this time and that it could be discussed again when the entire Board is present and there is more of an interest from residents.
