PUBLIC HEARING – NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR THE VILLAGE OF NORTH AURORA AND THE MESSENGER PUBLIC LIBRARY OF NORTH AURORA
Village President Hansen opened the public hearing for the proposed property tax increase for the Village of North Aurora and the Messenger Public Library of North Aurora. Bill Hannah noted that the annual truth and taxation hearing is required to be held by the Village based on the fact that the proposed levy will exceed the Village’s last extensions by 105%. The inflation factor for this year was 3.4%. Last year the Village had total extensions of $1.91 million. This year the estimate, which includes new construction, will be $2.09 million. Hannah estimated the tax would go down 3.6%. The net affect is that the average taxpayer who owns a $300,000 house will pay an additional $11 to the Village and $6 to the library for a total increase of $17.00. There were no trustee or audience comments. Village President Hansen closed the public hearing.
