Please join us in welcoming our newest officer, Adam Smolik-Valles! Officer Smolik-Valles was sworn in Monday afternoon with Mayor Mark Gaffino administering the oath of office in front of family and co-workers.
Officer Smolik-Valles was raised in Des Plaines, Illinois and was previously employed as a construction worker. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Western Illinois University, where he gained experience serving the community doing research and philanthropic events.
Officer Smolik-Valles said, “I am honored for the opportunity to join the North Aurora Police Department and I am eager to see where my future with both the community and the department take me.”
This week he is in orientation training learning about department policies and beginning to learn the streets. Next week, he’ll begin the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield, Illinois, where he’ll spend the next 16 weeks and graduate in April. After that, he will enter our field training program for 12 weeks, where he will ride with an experienced officer, known as a Field Training Officer, and learn to apply his academy knowledge to his job in our community.
Welcome to North Aurora!
