Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Intern
The Village of North Aurora (population 17,441) located in Kane County is seeking a qualified individual for the position of GIS intern. This is a seasonal position, anticipated to begin mid to late May ending approximately 12 weeks later, within the Administration department and overseen by the IT Manager and working directly with the Administrative/GIS Analyst.
This position requires the candidate be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a Geography, GIS, Engineering or other closely related bachelor’s degree program or any combination of education, computer training, GIS/GPS experience.
Primary job responsibilities will be collecting and confirming field data using a Trimble GPS unit and ArcGIS Collector. Creating and updating maps and data sets using ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Professional. Updating and creating maps and data sets for use with ArcGIS Online.
This position will be a mix of outdoor and office environments. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time, sometimes in outdoor weather carrying equipment weighing up to 20 lbs.
The hourly rate for this position is $12.00. There is no residency requirements for the position.
