Fiscal/Utility Billing Specialist
The Village of North Aurora, Illinois (Population 16,760) located in Kane County is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time, non-exempt position of Fiscal/Utility Billing Specialist in the Finance Department. The position is responsible for coordinating the preparation and issuance of bi-monthly utility billings as well as late/final billings, responding to and answering customer inquiries/requests and coordinating service disconnection when necessary. The position is also responsible for billing and follow-up of all miscellaneous accounts receivable, assisting with the preparation and processing of payroll and required tax filings and general account ledger reconciliation. Position may assist in other Finance areas as the need arises. Position also assists and works with the Water Department with the coordination of meter reads, equipment change-outs, final readings, work orders and other assistance as needed.
The position generally works Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Qualified candidates must be detail oriented, able to multi-task and possess excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use sound judgement, analyze data and reconcile information, perform complex calculations and maintain positive, effective working relationships with all employees is also required. The ideal candidate will also have general knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to use Microsoft Office programs. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $40,667 to $57,828 with an hourly rate range for the position from $19.55 to $27.80 per hour. Starting hourly rate is dependent on qualifications. The Village offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance, life/dental insurance, vacation leave, holiday leave, sick leave, flex benefits and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF). There is no residency requirement for the position.
