Deputy Chief Gorski stated that the Village Police were looking to finalize the purchase of a virtual reality training simulator. The purchase was discussed in the Village’s 2024-25 budget. The police department researched several different options for a training system that would fit the Village’s needs and assist with the department’s mandates from the State of Illinois. The department identified the Apex Officer system as a leading candidate, it had been utilized by one of the department’s nearby agencies which enabled department representatives an opportunity to test and see the system in person. The police department believes that this system will fulfil the department’s needs as well as bring the Village’s officers to the forefront of training.
Mayor Gaffino stated that he felt it would be a great addition and useful tool.
