VILLAGE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Monday, April 1, 2024

CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Gaffino called the meeting to order.

 

SILENT PRAYER – MEDITATION – PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

 

ROLL CALL

In attendance:  Mayor Mark Gaffino, Trustee Jason Christiansen, Trustee Mark Guethle,

Trustee Todd Niedzwiedz, Trustee Carolyn Salazar

 

Staff in attendance:  Village Administrator Steve Bosco, Finance Director Jason Paprocki, Community Development Director Nathan Darga, Village Attorney Kevin Drendel, Public Works Director Brian Richter, Police Chief Joe DeLeo.

 

APPOINTMENT-Tammy Livingston-Police Pension Board

Mayor Gaffino appointed Tammy Livingston to the Police Pension Board.

Trustees were in agreement with the appointment.

 

PROCLAMATION-Child Abuse Awareness Month

Mayor Gaffino proclaimed April to be Child Abuse Awareness Month to encourage all to be aware and take steps to protect our children and help prevent child abuse.

Karyn Charrat of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Illinois Fox Valley Junior Woman’s Club spoke for a moment to thank the Village for recognizing Child Abuse Awareness Month.

CONSENT AGENDA

Motion for approval made by Trustee Guethle and seconded by Trustee Salazar. Roll Call Vote:  Trustee Guethle – yes, Trustee Niedzwiedz – yes, Trustee Salazar – yes, Trustee Christiansen – yes. Motion approved (4-0).

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Approval to Purchase two Hydrous Manganese Oxide (HMO) Pumps and one Transfer Pump from LAI, Ltd. For Water Treatment Plants in the Amount of $32,664.10

Public Works Director Richter explained that Water Division staff performed an inventory of old and used pumps to see if they were able to be reused.  Staff dropped them off at Apex Industries to get them inspected and quotes for repairs.  They could not be repaired meeting manufacturer specification, therefore the Village would like to purchase two new spare HMO pumps.  One for each treatment plant.  As well as a new transfer pump.  LAI, Ltd. is a sole source provider for these pumps, staff was recommending the purchase of two HMO pumps and the transfer pump from them.

 

Motion for approval made by Trustee Salazar and seconded by Trustee Niedzwiedz. Roll Call Vote:  Trustee Salazar – yes, Trustee Christiansen – yes, Trustee Guethle – yes, Trustee Niedzwiedz – yes. Motion approved (4-0).
