NEW BUSINESS
1. Discussion of New Squad Car Design
Chief Fisher suggested a change in the graphics from the current squads which are currently black and white. The white on the cars are white vinyl and after a while it turns yellow and in some cases black. Fisher said he is looking to go to an all black squad. The department recently ordered all new Explorers. To do the white, it would cost $900 a squad which would result in an extra $3600. To do the white and the graphics on the old cars would be $1605 compared to the all black squad which would cost $890. Everything on the squad car is reflective. With the black and white cars, if any part of the white on the doors is damaged, the entire side has to be replaced in order to match. With the black, would just need to fix what was damaged.
Trustee Lowery said it is a great design and looks more attractive. Trustee Gaffino said that his only thought is that the white doors during the day would be more noticeable.
