The Public Works Department is asking residents not to park on the streets from Friday night, January 10th, to Sunday afternoon, January 12th.
This storm is forecast to start with rain, heavy at times, then transition over to sleet and ice. With ice accumulations of a quarter inch or more it will make it difficult to travel on the streets. Cars parked along the streets make it difficult for the salt trucks to treat the roads. Cars parked on the streets are at risk of being struck by other vehicles during an ice event like this one.
The sleet will then transition over to all snow with 3 plus inches possible. During a snow event Village ordinances restrict parking on the street after 2 inches of snow has fallen and the removal process has finished. This ordinance allows Village crews and subcontractors to remove the snow in a safe and timely matter. We appreciate your help in keeping North Aurora safe.
