PUBLIC HEARING – BUDGET FOR VILLAGE OF NORTH AURORA FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JUNE 1, 2008 AND ENDING MAY 31, 2009
Finance Director Bill Hannah noted some of the additional changes made to the draft budget.
1. Adjustment for the personnel services for the water fund to implement the new salary schedule. 2. Resident survey in the amount of $7,000 was eliminated. 3. Reduction in the training dollars for the police department.

Village President Hansen asked for audience comments during the public hearing. There were none.

Trustee Herwig said that he was concerned about North Aurora Days for this year. There were $19,000 in sponsorships last year. This year the projection was the same. To date, there is only $8,000 in sponsorships with only two weeks to go. Herwig said he is concerned about expenses versus revenues and proposed the budget for North Aurora days be changed to $48,000. Trustee Berman said he was in favor of the change.

Village President Hansen asked if there would be an attempt to go back into the public sector for donations to support the fireworks for North Aurora Days and Fourth of July. Trustee Berman said that the Lions Club has done this in the past. Residents are very receptive to donate when going door to door. Trustee Berman added that the residents have that same attitude with the money coming out of the Village funds as opposed to going door to door. Trustee Gaffino said it would be nice to get corporate backing. Village Administrator Sue McLaughlin said that she has been to events where collections are taken on site before the fireworks show.

McLaughlin said that Staff would bring the budget before the Board for approval next Monday. Finance Director Bill Hannah said that the line item for North Aurora Days would reflect $48,000.

Village President Hansen closed the public hearing.
