VILLAGE BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
Village President Hansen called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL
In attendance: Village president John Hansen, Trustee Dale Berman, Trustee Mike Herlihy, Trustee Bob Strusz, Trustee Mark Gaffino, Trustee Linda Mitchell, Trustee Max Herwig.

Staff in attendance: Village Administrator Sue McLaughlin, Management Analyst Wes Kornowske, Finance Director Bill Hannah, Public Works Superintendent Mike Glock, Village Engineer Jim Bibby, Police Chief Tom Fetzer, Fire Bureau Chief Mark Bozik, Atty. Kevin Drendel.

AUDIENCE COMMENTS
Mr. Zhenyuan Shi, 537 Hammer Lane, North Aurora, addressed the Board to appeal his water violation ticket. Village President Hansen asked for background on the matter. Village Administrator Sue McLaughlin said the ticket was given for watering in the front yard at 9:19 a.m. when watering is only allowed from 6 – 9 p.m. Mr. Shi explained that he was leaving town on Saturday for the entire week and due to the weather forecast, decided to water at that time. Village President Hansen mentioned that notices regarding watering have been posted for a year or longer and the Board could not waive the ticket.

TRUSTEE COMMENTS
Trustee Herwig said that Friday Nite Spot registration was held last Friday night. There were 153 4th and 5th graders and 123 middle-schoolers that signed up for the program.

Trustee Herwig questioned the GPS tracking device and server that was listed on the accounts payable list. Chief Fetzer explained that the new server is for the entire Village for filing and email. Chief Fetzer said that the GPS tracking device is an investigative tool.

Trustee Mitchell congratulated Bill Hannah on the award from the IGFOA. Village President Hansen added that the Village appreciates Hannah’s efforts.

Trustee Strusz congratulated Hannah on his award and thanked Lori Murray and Trustee Herwig for helping at the Friday Nite Spot registration.

Trustee Herlihy noted that the make-up day for North Aurora Days Auto Fest would be Oct. 7th. Trustee Herlihy said he is looking for volunteers.

Trustee Berman congratulated Bill Hannah on the IGFOA award. Hannah said that this is the second time that the Village has received this award.

TURF ROOM LIQUOR LICENSE – Parker Grabowski – Village President Hansen noted that Mr. Grabowski is asking for a Class B liquor license for the Turf Room. The license will be controlled and held with the Turf Room owner. Mr. Grabowski addressed the Board and said that he has a similar restaurant in Minneapolis and that the concept has done very well. Grabowski noted that he has put about four million dollars into the Turf Room. Most of the space is allocated to a high-end/casual dining restaurant. Mr. Grabowski said that he is hoping to have the Turf Room open in a couple of weeks. Village President Hansen said he would place the Liquor License on the Consent Agenda for the next Board meeting.
