The North Aurora Plan Commission reviews all applications for planned unit development; zoning applications; site plan reviews; and special use applications. Further, the Plan Commission reviews submitted applications and makes recommendations to the Village Board.

The Plan Commission reviews the effectiveness of the Zoning Ordinance and periodically reports recommendations for updates of the zoning ordinance to the Village Board.  The Plan Commission is also responsible to assist in the development, review and amendment of the Comprehensive Plan as requested by the Village Board.

The Village of North Aurora is proud to continue the North Aurora Days tradition of providing an annual community event consisting of fun-filled activities and entertainment for the whole family. The North Aurora Days Committee is comprised of volunteers who, along with village staff, continually contribute their time and expertise to planning and providing a great celebration each year. The North Aurora Days Committee also acknowledges and appreciates all of our sponsors who contribute to the success of the event by their generous donations.

The Board of Police Commissioners has the authority to appoint all officers to the North Aurora Police Department, except for the Chief of Police and the Deputy Chiefs of Police.


        Police Pension Board Members

Resident – appointed by Village President
Active Police Officer – appointed by Village President
Active Police Officer – elected by active participants of the police pension system
Active Police Officer   – elected by active participants of the police pension system
Retired Police Officer – elected by beneficiaries of the police pension system

The Police Pension Board consists of five members to act as trustees to administer the police pension fund and to designate the beneficiaries of such pension fund.  All members shall serve for two-year terms or until their successors are appointed and qualified.


The North Aurora River District Alliance (NOARDA) is a non-profit organization in the Village of North Aurora. The officers of the Board are appointed by the Village President.  The Village of North Aurora partners with NOARDA in their efforts to bring residents and visitors to the riverfront.  NOARDA is committed to developing the North Aurora Riverfront area into a destination for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.  They sponsor programs at riverfront parks with events throughout the year to ensure that it is a festive and vibrant community gathering space.
