North Aurora Days Committee Meeting
MINUTES
April 25, 2012

In attendance: Mark Gaffino, Jim Laughead, Craig Wonsowski, Maryann Hupp, Chris Coakley, Anise Hesson, Bob Strusz, Kevin Drendel, Todd Zies, Doug Botkin, Chris Faber, Ryan Lambert, Julie Boer, Robyn Stecklein, Dr. Tom Brooks

7:05 meeting called to order

Mark G. welcomed new member of the committee, Kathy. She will be coordinating the Race for NOARDA.

Minutes
Committee reviewed minutes from March meeting. Motion made to approve the minute made by Chris Faber, seconded by Mark Gaffino. All in favor, none opposed.

MC
Todd Zies will MC the event again this year.

Fire Department
Ryan reported that the parade route is all set for Friday – Staging at Tinseltown, go North on 31, West on Oak, North on Juniper, West on Dogwood, South on Randall – will drive past event venue and then double back to end at Raimondo’s parking lot.

Fireworks will be both nights – a resident donated fireworks for Saturday night

EMS Tent – same as last year

5K/10K Race (NOARDA)
Kathy introduced herself. Race has new name “Run for the Riverfront”. Course will stay the same. They are working on getting route re-certified.

Emergency Vehicle Show
Emergency Vehicle Show will be moved from Mooseheart to new venue – Show will be held at Oberweis/Aurora Pump property.

Lions Club
Bob received the quote from Euclid and all the prices have increased. Euclid is looking for the same sponsorship opportunity as last year. Bob will take to Lions Club to discuss.

Website
Jim reported that signs are going up around the Village. He has received sponsorship logos from Julie and they are working on getting website up to date. He is getting quotes for magnets for the Community Parade on June 3, 2012. Craig mentioned that any updates you have for the website should be sent to webupdates@northauroradays.com. All logos should be sent to Jim first.

Car Show
Maryann reported that the Car Show will be at Mooseheart on Sunday. Registration will be from 9 -12 noon. The show will end at 4:30pm. Awards will be at 3pm. Voting will start at noon.

Craft Show/Farmers Market
No report

Ice Cream Contest
Chris would like to move event to Saturday evening. No time decided on yet – still planning. Needs to contact Oberweis.

Safe Kids/Car Seat Check
Mooseheart has already been reserved. Same plan as last year, Saturday 10am – 2pm

Touch a Truck
Same as last year – will be at Mooseheart on Saturday from 10am – 2pm.

Garage Sales
No report.

Publicity
Doug reported that he is going to be working on the booklet starting in the mid-May. Any changes to your events should be sent to Doug.

We are going to utilize the Water Bill insert for advertising – sent out the end of June.

Fishing Derby
Kevin reported that the Fishing Derby will be held in same location as last year at Chesterfield. More details to follow.

Sponsorship
Julie reported that she has raised between $18,000 and $20,000. She is working on booths for vendors inside and outside the event. Non-profit will be located inside event, all others will be located outside on the midway.

Baggo Tournament
Baggo will held from 2 – 5pm on Saturday. Haley’s Playground will be organization to benefit from proceeds.

Miscellaneous
Mark Gaffino reported that the Park District would like to host the 3 on 3 basketball again. Also looking into soccer.

Next meeting will be Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 7pm.

Meeting adjourned at 7:44pm.
