During his time in Montgomery, he was nominated for county Officer of the Year three times, once in Kendall County and back to back years in Kane County.

Officer Kern said, “I am excited to join the North Aurora Police Department to start a new chapter in my life in law enforcement and I am looking forward to serving the people of North Aurora.”
Kern has begun orientation training where he is learning our streets and will receive defensive tactics, firearms, and policy training this week. Next week he enters our Field Training program, at the conclusion of which he will be released for solo patrol.
