Messenger Library to Reopen with “Grab & Go” Service Starting Monday July 13
The Messenger Public Library of North Aurora (MPL) 113 Oak St. plans to reopen to the public with reduced services and hours beginning Monday, July 13, with several changes in place for the safety of the community and library staff. MPL’s “Grab & Go” service will include browsing and material check out. Hours of operation:
Monday & Friday: 9:00 A.M. – 5 P.M.
Tuesday & Thursday: 1:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.
Saturday: 9:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M.
Closed: Wednesday & Sunday
Cardholders will be able to check out library material and place holds. Patrons will be counted as they enter the building as capacity will be limited. Face coverings / masks will be required to enter and use the Library. Those in line will be asked to wait once capacity is reached. Study rooms, meeting rooms, laptops and seating will be unavailable. Public computers will be spaced six feet apart, will require reservations of up to 2 hours, and will be limited to one reservation per day. Toys and computers have been removed from the Youth area.
In following with the Illinois Department of Health guidance for reopening public spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic, face coverings will be required for all library staff and patrons over the age of 2. Contactless services will be available for those who cannot wear masks. Patrons will be asked to limit their time in the library, and keep any staff interaction to under 10 minutes. Six feet of distance must be maintained. MPL also asks that patrons stay home if they or a member of their family is currently ill.
Book Returns
The library book drops, located on the west side of the building, are open. Oversized or fragile materials should be returned inside the library. Returned materials continue to be quarantined before they are checked in. No fines will be charged until further notice.
Curbside Pickup
Limited curbside pickup hours will be available. Call the library during open hours to get more information. Only requested items can be picked up curbside. Cardholders may place requests through their online library account or by calling 630-896-0240 during library hours. See Curbside Pickup for details.
