PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
APRIL 15, 2013
CALL TO ORDER – 6:30
Trustee Gaffino called the meeting to order.
In attendance: Trustee Vince Mancini, Trustee Mark Gaffino, Trustee Ryan Lambert, Mayor Dale Berman, Finance Director Bill Hannah, Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki, Public Works Superintendent Mike Glock., Village Clerk Lori Murray.

APPROVAL OF MINTES
1. Approval of Public Safety Committee Meeting Minutes dated January 7, 2013
Motion for approval made by Trustee Lambert and seconded by Trustee Mancini. All in favor. Motion approved.
1. Discussion on Citizen Corps Council Structure
Scott Buziecki discussed with the committee the creation of a Citizen Corps Council. The steering committee would be comprised of at least 7 but no more than 13 members.
Buziecki said that he looked at the past practice of the Village and the North Aurora Days Committee was established by ordinance, headed by a trustee and members selected by other members of the Village Board. The Village Board would have control over direction of the group.
Trustee Mancini said that his only thought was that the group lacked a computer or commercial expertise individual. Trustee Lambert agreed. Buziecki said that such a person could be added. Individuals from specific categories would need to be represented in the committee.
Buziecki said that an ordinance would need to be created and a committee selected. The Village would then apply to the state for recognition. Once applied, there is a certain amount of time allowed to have the council in place. The council will then come up with policies and procedures.
